Accompanied by Imran Hussain Choudhary, the editor of Sunni Times from Bradford, Shaykh Kabir Ali Shah arrived at Jamia Al-Karam in the evening. After a warm reception in the Zia-ul-Ummat Suite, Shaykh Kabir Ali Shah was taken on a tour of the Jamia Al-Karam campus and facilities. Shaykh Pirzada described the day to day workings of the institution, its achievements and objectives. Following the tour, students of Jamia Al-Karam’s Dars Nizami Faculty had the opportunity to meet the guests and after a brief introduction from Bakhtyar H Pirzada, Shaykh Kabir Ali Shah addressed the students and delivered a short talk. In his address, Shaykh Kabir Ali Shah commented that he came to Jamia Al-Karam on the occasion of the annual Urs conference held in the summer of 2009 and since then had deeply desired to pay a special detailed visit of Jamia Al-Karam to see its functioning. He commented about his continuous tours of the United Kingdom since 1974 and how he had been assessing the progress and direction of the Sunni Muslims within the country.
He said, “By witnessing the works and achievements of Jamia Al-Karam and by having a detailed discussion with Shaykh Pirzada, I feel very content and greatly appreciate and admire the hard work done by the honourable Shaykh over the past two decades.” He continued and advised the students to recognise the importance of time and take full benefit from this institution and the honourable teachers present especially Shaykh Pirzada. This is a time not just to gain academic knowledge but also to improve oneself morally and spiritually. Following the meeting with the students, the guests had dinner with Shaykh Pirzada in the Zia-ul-Ummat Suite, after which tea was served and Shaykh Kabir Ali Shah signed the visitor book of Jamia Al-Karam. On Tuesday 9 February 2010, Shaykh Sayyid Kabir Ali Shah visited Jamia Al-Karam and met with Shaykh M I H Pirzada. Shaykh Kabir Ali Shah descends from a noble family and is one of the leading sufi figures of the Indian subcontinent. He occupies the well-known spiritual seat of Chura Sharif near Rawalpindi in Pakistan which is a notable name within the Naqshbandi Sufi Order in the subcontinent. He is at present the Patron-in-Chief of the Faizan-e Awliya’ Association of Pakistan.
