On Wednesday 24 March 2010, Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman visited Jamia Al-Karam and met with Shaykh M I H Pirzada. Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman is the Khatib of the prominent Shah Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. He is the Sajjadah Nasheen of Darbar-e-Aaliyah Baghar Shareef and Director of the Dawah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman arrived on the grounds of Jamia Al-Karam at 5:00pm and was welcomed by Shaykh M I H Pirzada and senior students of Higher Islamic Studies. The guests were immediately taken to the Zia-ul-Ummat Suite where Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman had the opportunity to have a brief discussion with Shaykh M I H Pirzada on matters pertaining to a wide range of issues. This was followed by tea and a light afternoon meal being served. The guests were then taken to the Masjid where all the students and members of staff were ready to greet the guests. After a recitation of the glorious Qur’an and praise of the beloved Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the attendees were given an opportunity to hear some words of wisdom from Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman.

Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman began his talk by stating, “It is a great honour for me to address the students of Jamia Al-Karam in the presence of the renowned scholar and spiritual leader Shaykh M I H Pirzada. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Shaykh M I H Pirzada is the real and shining product of the Ummah’s Luminary, Justice Shaykh Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari (may Allah be pleased with him).”

Quoting the fact that actions speak louder than words, he advised the students, “Our noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used two methods for preaching; his voice and his actions. It was through his actions and character that thousands were attracted to the message that he brought.”

In speaking about actions he advised the students that we do not need to look far in order to find examples of people who followed the Prophetic Tradition. He advised that we need only to look at the example of Justice Shaykh Muhammad Karam Shah al-Azhari (may Allah be pleased with him) and we will find that he embodied a “balanced personality”. He instructed the students to instil in themselves the qualities that are to be found in such a great personality.

The respected Shaykh further advised, “My younger students you have an ideal opportunity in that you have a personality like Shaykh M I H Pirzada who is also an embodiment of knowledge and practice. You can seek knowledge from him and you can also follow him and his character and in doing so you will be able to purify your inner selves.”

The respected Shaykh also spent a few moments during his talk to specifically address the female students of Higher Islamic Studies, “I would like to draw your attention to one point; everybody wishes to follow a particular ideal. My beloved sisters and daughters, your ideals include the noble lady Khadijah al-Kubra, the noble lady A’ishah Siddiqah, the noble Sayyida an-Nisa Fatimah al-Zahrah (may Allah be pleased with them all).”

In concluding his talk, Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman stated, “Finally, I wish to end my talk by congratulating respected Shaykh M I H Pirzada for establishing this remarkable institution. Furthermore, I congratulate his remarkable son, Bakhtyar Haider Pirzada al-Azhari, who is also a great scholar and I can say without any hesitation that if you want to succeed in your lives then you should follow the ideal of his beloved son also.”

Following the talk of Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman, Shaykh M I H Pirzada thanked the guests for taking the time out of their busy schedules to visit Jamia Al-Karam. He also conveyed how he feels when leading scholars and Shuyukh from around the world come to visit Jamia Al-Karam. He explained that when such individuals visit Jamia Al-Karam and impart their wisdom and encouragement to the students he feels satisfied and content. He feels this way because it is certainly a sign from Allah (most high) that the action he took many years ago of establishing Jamia Al-Karam followed by the continuing endeavours and efforts involved are being accepted by Allah (most high).

The guests were then led outside and Shaykh M I H Pirzada bid farewell to Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman and the guests that had accompanied him on the trip.

We pray that Allah (most high) blesses and rewards Shaykh Dr. Sajid-ur-Rahman abundantly in this world, in the hereafter and continues to make him a source of guidance and inspiration for all throughout the world. Amin.
